Spurred by rapid growth in patient numbers and visits, Five Rivers Health Centers (FRHC) set out to build a new facility in the southwest Dayton, OH community of Edgemont.
Elevar was hired as the A/E firm to plan and design the new 3-story health center which consolidates multiple locations into one larger, multipurpose, innovative building. The new 84,000 SF medical office building (MOB) provides for a better “one stop shop” experience for the patient, allows providers to be utilized in more than one center efficiently, and creates a unique and inviting space for the patients. Operationally, this new facility enables FRHC to continue to grow existing practices to meet the needs of the community, giving the ability to cross-train staff members and reduce duplication of costs.
Services housed within the new facility include women’s health, pediatrics, dental, internal medicine, pharmacy, sports medicine, behavioral health, acupuncture, massage therapy, addiction medicine, nutritional services, transportation, administration, and billing. Through input from the community, staff and patients, the Edgemont Campus has 88 exam and procedure rooms, drive-through pharmacy, community space, and on-site laboratory and x-ray. Care is provided by Physicians and Certified Nurse Practitioners from Wright State Physicians Inc. and FRHC Physicians and Physician Assistants. FRHC provides an exceptional learning environment for more than 100 Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine residents and fellows.
Five Rivers Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), committed to increasing access to quality, comprehensive care to all patients including low-income and uninsured. At it’s opening in 2022, the Edgemont Campus is the largest FQHC site in Ohio.
